摘要:Dental sealants applied to pits and fissures on the bitingsurfaces of teeth are a preventive procedure representinga conserving alternative to the more expensiveconventional coronal restoration of dental tissue. Since24 January 2001, this procedure has been reimbursedunder certain conditions by Assurance maladie (FrenchHealth Insurance Scheme), particularly when there is arisk of decay. This type of sealant forms part of internationalrecommendations that it was interesting to comparewith those issued by the Haute Autorité de santé(French National Authority for Health / HAS) to extractany points of agreement. These dental sealants would require: a detailed clinicalexamination, an individual assessment of the patient’sdecay risk (sealants are not applied systematically), applicationby a trained healthcare professional, the preferentialuse of resin-based sealants, a clinical and radiologicaltest which should be performed on the basis of the patient’srisk factors and repair of damaged sealants. However, it would not be necessary to apply a sealant ona healthy tooth without associated risk factors or a systematicameloplasty. If these principles, and particularly those of the HAS,which represent current scientific evidence in France, were followed, each patient would have access to qualitytreatments reimbursed byAssurance maladie for this procedure.Prat Organ Soins 2007;38(4):295-303
