摘要:The success of international assignments of executives is essential to the expansion and global development of corporations beyond their geographical frontiers. The selection, the preparations for the trip, the support and the benefits offered by organizations to the expatriated professionals are all activities carried out by the International Management of Human Resources [IMHR], and can contribute to the success or the failure of foreign missions. In this line, the aim of this work was to investigate which factors related to staff management policies (benefits and selection) in an organization contribute to the success of an international assignment. To do that, a study was carried out at Rational Co. (a fictional name), which provided the data and the contents of a research with expatriates, repatriates, and the supervisors of the current expatriates. The data indicate that the company has benefited from the process of executive expatriation as a competitive strategy. The analysis also indicates that the organization privileges the selection of candidates, the distribution of benefits and the payment process, as well as cultural aspects and language training/orientation. On the other hand, the relocation process, career planning and development, and aid for spousal and dependents are given little attention.
