摘要:This article aims (1) to compare the preferential use for spatial
areas during the occurrence of social interchange, isolated activity,
spectator and socially directed behavior and (2) to check if children
with different social interchange frequencies use the space
differently. The article analyzes the distribution of two groups of 1-
to 2-year-old children from two Brazilian public day care centers.
Data were collected by three video cameras in three phases (Ph):
PhI¨Cusual arrangement; PhII¨Cintroduction of shelves along the
periphery of the space; PhIII¨Cstructuring of two circumscribed
zones. The minute-by-minute analysis of the children positions and
behavior showed: (1) greater occurrence of isolated activity
followed by spectator, social interchange and socially directed
behavior; (2) children with different social interchange frequencies
use the space similarly in the first phase, but in different ways in
the arrangements with more spatial structuring.
