摘要：In a meeting as the CONTECSI, which goes in it’s forth edition, with a notorious increase of participants and with a recognition that goes beyond the geographic horizons of Brazil, it is natural to take the Information Systems, while a technological subject developed in an organizational environment, as a central theme in the plenary session dedicated, since last year, to the Information Science. So in this paper it is pretended to analyze and discuss what kind of relation already exists or is under construction between the Information Systems and Information Science, as it is been proposed and taught in the University of Porto, Portugal.
The operative concepts of transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary frame the analysis and the debate visaed. Therefore, as an inevitable incursion by the confrontation between positivism and relativism, the neocientism can, maybe, help to surpass. That concepts are, in fact, essential as the Information Science, in our perspective, plays it success and epistemological maturation in the combination between two vectors: the trans and inter disciplinary. It is important to know if the contacts between I.S. and STI – two different subjects, it may seems, one conceived in the fields of the social sciences and the other has a technology origin, molded in the informatics area and ruled by the exact sciences (mathematics physics, etc,) – configure an extensive interpenetrability or a mere regular or irregular convergence around common questions.
