摘要：This research had as objective to understand the psychosocial aspects of the experience of being a serum-positive and its consequences in the daily life. Thirteen HIV serum-positive persons of both male and female genders and with average age of 37 years participated in this sampling. It was utilized the technique of deep interview. The material was categorized by the Bardin’s analysis of thematic content (1977). The data made it possible to construct representations that overtaken the biological side and reached the psychosocial issue (the prejudice, the segregation and the stigma). These representations influence and orient the conduct of these social actors in relation to adhesion, isolation, the maintenance of inter-personal relations and the sexual function. AIDS was represented as a disease that can cause many psychosocial, professional, family and organic consequences. In conclusion, it is necessary the conception of strategies for the implementation of public policies of education and promotion in health with the aim of decreasing the psychosocial impact of AIDS.
