摘要:¨CThis paper discusses the conception of freedom in Waldorf education
and the implications of this conception on the Waldorf pedagogy. For Waldorf educa-
tors, the concept of freedom goes beyond ideas such as !°democratic participation!±
!°free expression!±, or !°free action.!± Icompasses a notion of self-knowledge and
self-discipline and the full development of our potentials. Paradoxically, to promote
this kind freedom, the Waldorf curriculum is tightly structured, and the teachers are
very directive. The research is based on a case study of a typical Waldorf school.
