摘要:From the analysis of three Columbian recycling cooperatives,
four elements emerge as contributing to gender equality and the
empowerment of women by women: “responsible well-being”, satisfaction
of basic needs, development of working skills, and teamwork in
organizations. In these cooperatives, women strive to reconcile family
and domestic realities with those of the workplace and community.
Although individual, these efforts also form part of a collective action,
the women lending one another support in order to successfully achieve
this reconciliation. This collective action also touches the family, as
spouses, children and other family members are required to participate
in the process of mental and practical adjustments to the way domestic
chores are shared, to reproduction, and, especially, to the way wives and
mothers are viewed and valued. Family support is vital to the positive
action of women in cooperatives. We must recognize that the transformations
of familial interaction are slow-coming, and even that we cannot
observe any major positive effects, other than real changes observed
at the personal level in associate-members.
