摘要：In this paper I study the main characteristics of a new discipline we could call "flag stylistics" which can be considered as a part of a "nationalism stylistics". Following Barthe's idea that any reality can be analyzed as if it was a text, and the basic tenet of stylistics, that affirms that there always exists a complex and reciprocal relation between form and content, I explore what morphology, uses and history of flags can tell us about nationalism as an ideology.
