摘要：Based on Bronfenbrenner!ˉs Ecologial Model, this study was aimed
at evaluating the buffering effects of protective factors -against the
consequences of risk factors- on mother!ˉs positive parenting styles
and child abuse practices. Parenting-styles were assessed following Baumrind!ˉs typology onthat matter. 183 mothers living in
Hermosillo, Mexico participated in this study. The measured
variables were self-esteem, quality of life, K-factor, social support
of the family, social support of the spouse, neighborhood cohesion,
social support of friends, history of abuse, depression, disciplinary
beliefs, violence from partner, insecurity in neighborhood,
parenting styles (authoritative, authoritarian, permissive), and child
abuse. Results of a structural equation model indicate that
protective factors inhibit risk factors, while these risk factors have
a positive effect on child abuse and a negative influence on
parenting styles.
