摘要：This article emphasizes the contribution of Joan Coromines to the Catalan and Romance dialectology. The foundations of his etymology are documentation, dialectal information and data of all Romance languages. Coromines, apart from enriching the Catalan lexicon with new lexical items, has made a lot of new contributions in the field of research on substratum, arabisms, hellenisms and on catalanisms in Spanish.
