This article discusses the student project that won first prize in a competition for 'Excellence in Teaching and Learning for Social Entrepreneurship,' promoted by CEBE in 2005. The project involved town planning students working closely with a cross-section of the public in devising an urban design strategy for a small town in Fife, Scotland. The article sets the context by explaining social entrepreneurship and the pedagogy underpinning the learning and teaching methods. It evaluates the benefits for both the students and the community involved and gives good practice guidance.
