摘要:New Technologies in Global Societies is similar in subject matter to both Personal, Portable,
Pedestrian (Ito, et al 2005) and Asia Unplugged: The Wireless and Mobile Media Boom in Asia-Pacific (Rao
and Mendoza 2004) in that it provides the reader with insights into the use of technology in a culture that
has not received broad exposure. While the latter two books examine mobile communication in Japan (Ito)
and Asia (Rao and Mendoza) respectively, New Technologies in Global Societies devotes the majority of
chapters to covering the technology scene in China, in addition to material from the Philippines, Germany,
Italy, Malta and Canada.
