摘要：In this revised doctoral thesis Paul Reid-Bowen presents a thorough and
substantial plea for the assertion of the meaning of the Goddess at its highest
possible level, i.e.: a metaphysical level. As such the book is the result of a unique
enterprise. It is true, by delineating the meaning of female deity in a philosophical
and systematic manner, the author complements what others did before, but it is
not by accident that until now, only a few female theologians, namely Carol Christ
and Melissa Raphael, have opted for a systematic approach to the theme. Many
others are too reluctant to be urged to adapt to a masculine and patriarchal way of
reasoning to even explore this approach. This state of a
airs makes Reid-Bowen’s
choice for not only a descriptive and constructive approach of Goddess feminism,
but for a reality-claim at a metaphysical level all the more remarkable.
