viewed, critiqued, or shared content
on Wikipedia on many topics. Some
entries are general, some esoteric, some
even dealing with decision sciences topics
such as information systems, supply
chain management, and organizations.
Wiki-pedia is an online, open source,
collaborative encyclopedia. It has over
10 million articles in over 250 languages
(2.2 million separate entries in English)
created by thousands of contributors. It is
edited by tens of thousands of volunteers
and yet the operating staff of this nonprofi
t has only recently grown from 10
to 15 people. As a nonprofi t organization
founded on the concept of a collaborative
group of volunteers, it shares some common
features with DSI.
