摘要：The concept of res is one of the most slippery concepts in Scaliger¡¯s poetic
theory. Though referred to throughout the whole of his work, it becomes particularly
evident at the beginning of Book VII. His particular conception of poetry, mainly
centred on the external aspect, leading him to an inversion of the traditional terms
materia and forma, makes Scaligerian res not to coincide with that of other authors.
In this work we seek to provide a few reflections that are intended to shed some light
on this concept from the last book of Scaliger¡¯s Poetics.
