摘要:School is not a safe place for many elementary school students. They spend much of their time being afraid of bullies. They are frightened of going to the playground, toilet or canteen because they have been bullied there. Bullying is a kind of aggressive behavior defined as the inequality of power of the parts. A dominant person (people) hurts another person (people) who is less powerful - on purpose and repeatedly. This aggressive behavior may be realized physically (for example; kicking, pushing),or verbally (name calling, teasing). It may be performed directly or indirectly. The most important long term effect of bullying is violence and the wrongful use of power. A high correlation is found between bullying behavior in elementary school and criminal behavior observed in adulthood. However, these negative effects of bullying can be minimized or diminished by means of implementation of programs in the early years of school that have been developed for preventingbullying. This study intends to reveal the effectiveness of a anti-bullying program on elementary school students. The significant and positive changes between the pre and post test scores about thekind and frequency of bullying, and the responses of students against bullying and the opinions related to school climate, showed that even a short term and only student-oriented program revealed quite positive outcomes. This situation may be accepted as promising for the future.
