摘要：The cooperative movement has created tools for solving
disputes in the different sectors within which it is present. Among them
are cooperative arbitration, which is a long-standing institution, especially
in certain Autonomous Communities in Spain. Arbitration is regulated
by Arbitration Law 60/2003, of 23 December, which contemplates
greater flexibility and rapidness in the procedure, as well as cooperation
from the courts. Among arbitration¡¯s many advantages are its rapidness,
confidentiality, flexibility on objective matters, specialisation,
procedural flexibility, low cost, and its undeniable effectiveness. In the
second part of this paper, cooperative arbitration is analysed within the
context of regional legislation, placing particular emphasis on the case
of the Basque Country, a pioneering community which has developed
a substantial institutional system for dispute resolution which is available
to cooperatives.
