摘要：The article tackles the characterisation of the most significant
socio-demographic variables found in wife batterers, or men
that subject their partners to violence. With this in mind, we first go over
the research that has been carried out to date, review some of the few
samples available from Spanish society and provide data corresponding
to men that have been dealt with at the Servicio Espacio del Instituto
Aragon¨¦s de la Mujer (a Department in the Aragonese Women¡¯s
Institute) between 1999 and 2006, which aims to provide psychological
treatment for men that experience problems with self-control and violence
in the home. In the results submitted with reference to the sample
forming the subject of the study, no socio-demographic variable has
been identified with scores that define a characteristic profile for a wife
batterer. Nevertheless, they do establish some differences for these
men with the rest of the male population, which might lead to new lines
of work and fields of investigation in the future.
