摘要:Redefinition of the Phyllomedusa hypochondrialis group, with redescription of P. megacephala
(Miranda-Ribeiro, 1926), revalidation of P. azurea Cope, 1862, and description of a new species (Amphibia,
Anura, Hylidae).
The Phyllomedusa hypochondrialis species group, composed by small Phyllomedusinae leaf-frogs (combined
snout-vent length of the species ranging between 31.0-46.5mm in males, and 40.0-53.0mm in females), is
redefined based on external, osteologycal, and larval characters. The group is composed by nine species: P.
ayeaye (B. Lutz, 1966), P. azurea Cope, 1862 (revalidated), P. centralis Bokermann, 1965, P. hypochondrialis
(Daudin, 1801), P. megacephala (Miranda-Ribeiro, 1926), P. nordestina sp.nov., P. oreades Brandão, 2002,
P. palliata Peters, 1873 (new inclusion), and P. rohdei Mertens, 1926. The combined distributions of the
species include the South America east of the Andes, in Venezuela, Guyanas, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Bolivia,
Paraguay, and northern Argentina. Phyllomedusa azurea and P. megacephala are redescribed, and their
geographical distributions updated. Phyllomedusa nordestina sp.nov., distributed in the Northeastern region
of Brazil, is described from Maracás, State of Bahia.
