摘要:Prices of all major grains have surged over the past year. U.S. wheat prices reached record highs at
$334/ton fob as a result of tightened supplies from major exporters (EU-27, Canada, and Ukraine),
concerns about crop prospects in Argentina and Australia, and fears of Russian export restrictions.
Despite high prices, global demand has not subsided and the current export pace for the United
States is a blistering 23 percent higher than last year. Tightening exportable barley supplies have
caused prices to jump 25 percent in the past month ($80/ton) to $350/ton (fob, Northern Europe)
as Ukraine kept its trade ban and Russia is considering imposing export restrictions.
