摘要:In the next decade and beyond,
significant demographic
changes¡ªespecially the rising
number of elderly¡ªwill offer new
challenges for the U.S. food industry.
Elderly people generally eat
lesser amounts than energy-burning
teens and young adults. Today¡¯s
elderly also dine out less frequently
than their younger counterparts.
If these eating and spending
patterns continue and America¡¯s
older population meets growth
expectations, growth in real per
capita food expenditures will
likely stagnate.
