摘要：The mineralization of plant residues is one of the basic questions of the soil sciences,
which fundamentally influences the nutrient supply and the carbon pools of terrestrial
plant ecosystems. In the last decades new aspects emphasise the importance of the investigation
of the decomposition of organic materials: the increasing greenhouse effect
calls attention to the soil respiration and to the possibility of carbon sequestration in the
soil. The ongoing elevated anthropogenic N-supply endangers the balance of natural
ecosystems: phenomena like eutrophication of wet biotopes, increased NOx emissions,
N-saturation of forest ecosystems, or NO3
- - leakage into the groundwater have become
acute and widespread problems.
