developedatechniquetoconvertanygivenimagetoanisotropictexturethatcanbeusedtocreate16texturedsquare
tiles. Thesetilescanbemappedtoanyquadrilateralmeshwithoutanydiscontinuityorsingularity.Usingthetwo
methods together,wecanmakeanyabstractpainterlikeMirotoseamlesslypaintanysmoothmanifoldsurface.The
surfacecanhaveanynumberofholesorhandles.
Our mathematicalcodingtechniqueisbasedon16textured tiles that satisfyspecificboundaryconditionsintoone
textureimagefilewhichiscalleda tiled texture. Ourtexturecreationalgorithmautomaticallycreatesthesetiled
texturesfromanyimagewithasimpleuserinterfacethatallowstheuserstospecifytheboundaries.Basedon
tiled textures,wehavedevelopedasimpletexturemappingalgorithmthatassignsonetiletoeveryquadrilateralin
anygivenquadrilateralmesh.Ourmappingalgorithmprovidesaperiodicityonthesurfaceofthemeshandyields
singularity freetexturesregardlessofthesingularitiesexistinginthequadrilateralmesh
