摘要：While in Ireland the migration as against emigration debate is only just beginning,
elsewhere it has long attracted critical scholars concerned with the interaction of
the nation-state, labour and the complex processes we call globalisation in shorthand.
Robin Cohen is well known for his work – both individual and as an editor
– on world migration and global diasporas. This recent collection of his essays
provides some timely insights and considerable food for thought, for those
concerned with the topic of ‘migration and its enemies’ in contemporary Ireland.
It speaks also to the second concern of Translocations, namely the critical study of
‘race, racism and anti-racism’ often prone to rather polemical and sterile positions.
