Chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) is a rare form of leukaemia having features of both myeloproliferative and myelodysplasia. Most of the patients are above 50 years of age. The disease is characterized by anaemia and blood monocytosis. Monocyte percentage is usually more than 10% of the total WBC count. Most patients have thrombocytopenia. Bone marrow shows hyper cellularity/due to granulomonocytic hyperplasia. This entity has a very poor prognosis with a mean survival period of 24 months even after chemotherapy.
