摘要:Slaughterhouses, designed for the killing of farm animals and meat carving, haven’t always been the large scale death industry that we know today. In the after-war in Arles, the municipal slaughterhouse was a component of the city dynamics and a major place in the daily life of all people involved in animal business. Situated in a breeding region, it was always linked to cattle, dead or alive. It was used for weighing and also as corral during corridas. It was the meeting place for all cattle professionals in the area. Municipal archives as well as interviews with people who used to know the slaughterhouse in activity all indicate that it was really a lively meeting place centred on animals before it turned into an industrial plant specialized in animal death.
