摘要:In the 60¡¯s, professor V. Mihailescu greatly insisted on the concepts (and terms) of dissociation of
the object of Geography and geographical integration, which emphasizes the necessity for defending the idea
of unique and unitary Geography, as well as the concept of geographical region, which is considered a
complex physical, human and undissociated economic reality. The professor¡¯s preoccupations were an act for
defending the line of Geography development, against the tendency and official measures for recognizing
(under Soviet influence) the existence of two geographies having different objects of study (physical
geography and human geography); the regional geography studying the geographical regions was also denied.
The geographical region is that particular territorial unity (delineated through geographical criteria), having its
own functionality, the result of progressive integration of geographical spheres, including all that is related to
the existence and evolution of human society.
