摘要:In spite of the relatively high number of members, about 5,000 people, the Romanians’ community in Ottawa is still in formation. The religious symbols and practices have been adapted to the existing social space, mirroring how the ethno-religious community identity is being re-shaped, re-constructed, re-interpreted, and acquires a ‘hybrid’ valence. The church has become a place where the religious and ethnic dimensions mingle to create a particular space within the larger Canadian context, allowing Romanian immigrants to manifest and preserve their traditions and cultural heritage.
