摘要：Statistical Seismology is a relatively new term used
to describe the application of statistical methodology
to earthquake data. The purpose is to raise
new questions about the physical earthquake process,
and to describe stochastic components not explained
by physical models. Such stochastic quantification
allows one to test the validity of various physical
hypotheses, and also makes probability forecasts
more feasible.
