摘要:Due to rapidly increasing environmental problems, environmental education is becoming more important than ever. With environmental education, it is aimed at training individuals, who are aware of the environmental problems, trying to find solutions for these problems, responsible, sensitive, and conscious. It is thought that newspapers can be used as teaching aids in order to achieve these goals of environmental education. In this study, how newspapers were used in the classroom regarding environmental education studies conducted with teacher candidates is explained and the views of teacher candidates concerning using newspapers in environmental education. 88 teacher candidates studying at Anadolu University, Faculty of Education, Departments of Primary School Teaching and Social Studies participated in the study. An open-ended survey was employed in the study. The data were analyzed through induction analysis. The results of the study suggest that there are various contributions of using newspapers in environmental education in learning-teaching setting to the environmental education and personal development of students. In prevention of possible problems, it is of great importance that the teacher should be a good advisor.
