摘要：In talks I have given
throughout Japan in recent
years, due to my current
position in the realm of
education and educational exchange, I have challenged
my audiences to envision the Japan they
wish to see in 10 or 20 years.
Rhetoric aside, the effort has been two-fold: to
recognize how crucial education is as a reflection
¨C indeed, as an embodiment ¨C of socio-economic
and cultural realities at a time of enormous change;
and to foster a proactive approach that connects
educational reforms today with the kind of society
that the Japanese people wish to bring about.
