摘要:This year marks the 20th anniversary
of the passage of
Japan¡¯s law governing foreign
lawyers doing business in
Japan. The Foreign Lawyers¡¯ Act was
laden with restrictions when Japan
opened its doors to foreign lawyers
in 1987 and has since undergone
several amendments, with many
of its most burdensome restrictions
lifted or considerably loosened. The
consensus today is that there has
been significant progress toward
the liberalization of international
legal practice in Japan. While there
is undoubtedly more work to be
done, the movement has certainly
been in the right direction.
