摘要:The indicators that traditionally are used in economy to measure the human
capital leave many shades that are within an ample concept of human capital. In
this work, a new elaborated indicator is proposed. This is made for an ample
sample of eighty four countries and remembers the formal and informal education,
labour experience and health. The differences in the dowries of human capital of
diverse European countries, the United States and Japan, taking care of each one
of the indicators, are observed. Besides, a comparison of the indicator proposed
with the traditional indices of human capital is made, examining its accuracy
through the empirical evidence in a model of growth based on the one used by
Mankiw, Romer and Weil (1992). The results show that, with the proposed
indicator of human capital, the explanatory power of the model is greater than
with the traditional indicators.
