摘要：By now most of most of you know about the ruckus created by A Million Little Pieces, James Frey's memoir describing his battle to overcome drug dependency. For those of you who've been on a desert island, a bare-bones summary: It was published as a nonfiction book after first being peddled (and finding no takers) as a novel. The book zoomed to the top of the best-seller charts after the author appeared onThe Oprah Winfrey Show. When it came out that Frey used more than a little artistic license in portraying his experiences (read: made up), he re-appeared on the daytime show to apologize and be excoriated by Winfrey for betraying her and his readers. Appearing with him was Nan Talese, his publisher, whose imprint is part of Random House's Doubleday Broadway Publishing Group. According to a Wall Street Journal article, when Talese walked into her offices the next day, she received "a standing ovation from her colleagues" and "a call of support" from her CEO.
