摘要：Economic performance in Dominica is estimated
to have weakened in the period January to March
2006 relative to the outcome in the corresponding
period of 2005. This development was attributed to
a contraction in agricultural production, a lower
level of construction activity and a fall in
manufacturing output. Tourism performance was
mixed. The consumer price index increased by 1.0
per cent. The central government¡¯s fiscal operations
resulted in an overall deficit, in contrast to a surplus
in the first quarter of 2005. In the banking sector,
developments were marked by growth in broad
money, domestic credit and net foreign assets.
Commercial bank liquidity remained at a high level
and interest rates were unchanged. In the external
sector, the merchandise trade deficit narrowed as a
result of a decline in import payments.
