摘要：Economic activity in Saint Lucia is estimated to
have expanded in the first three months of 2006
compared with the corresponding period of 2005.
This performance was influenced by developments
in the construction sector. Activity in the tourism
industry and agricultural sector declined. The
consumer price index (CPI) decreased by 2.5 per
cent during the period under review. The
merchandise trade deficit narrowed, reflecting a
decrease in the value of imports. The central
government¡¯s fiscal operations resulted in a
narrowing of the overall deficit. Monetary liabilities
increased. However, liquidity in the commercial
banking system remained tight, and interest rates
were unchanged.
