摘要：Total expenses consist of program expenses and
public debt charges. In 2005¨C06 total expenses
amounted to $209.0 billion, down $1.5 billion,
or 0.7 per cent, from 2004¨C05.
Major transfers to persons (elderly benefits,
EI benefits and the Canada Child Tax Benefit)
and major transfers to other levels of government
(the Canada Health Transfer, the Canada Social
Transfer, fiscal arrangements and Alternative
Payments for Standing Programs) are the two
largest components of total expenses,
representing 25.2 and 19.5 per cent of expenses,
respectively. Other transfers made by various
federal departments to individuals, businesses
and other organizations and groups made up
11.9 per cent of total expenses in 2005¨C06.
