摘要:Favourable development of Finland¡¯s economy created
a stable framework for Statistics Finland¡¯s activity as well in 2005.
Demand for statistical information and services was sustained
by good two per cent growth in GDP and strong structural changes in the
economy. Prominent features in the development of domestic economy were
growth in private sector investments, exports and demand for labour force.
The rapid economic growth also helped to keep the fi nancial position
of central government in balance. Matters related to demographic development
surfaced more and more clearly in forecasts of economic development.
Political discourse at home centred on revisions of the municipal and service
structures, projects concerning productivity in the public sector and development
of central government¡¯s information management. Globalisation and
curtailing of costs continued to shape business activities.
