摘要：Adaptation, an item of theatre in Turkish literature beginning with Tanzimat, has been opposed since it would have negative effects on development of national theatre and on Turkish society structure. On the other hand adaptation was supported as it would benefit development of modern theatre. Though the common belief was against adaptation, adaptations of Ahmet Vefik Pasa from Moliere have found acceptance. This acceptance might be due to his preference of comedy and of its best performer in world literature, Moliere, and adaptation of plays consistent with Turkish society structure and moral virtues as in the case of Zoraki Tabip.
