摘要：After Turks had accepted İslam, they created many creations in their arts espeacally literature. One of these creation was the appearance of many literary genres which consider religion as a subject matter. This study looks at the genre of “hilye” which describes the physical characteristics of the Prophet Muhammed and introduce the Sherîfî’s hilye which is the first sample of this genre in Turkish literature.The Hilye is the literary genre that describes the physical characteristics of the Prophet Muhammed in a definite discipline which takes into consideration the importence of art. So this study also analyses the sources of this literary type, the development of it in Turkish literature and the relation between this literary genre and the descriptions of hilye. And also the life of this work’s writer, Seyyid Sherîfî Mehmed and his Diwan and Hilye is a part of this study.
