摘要:A downturn in the international business environment and increased investor uncertainty resulted in a significant drop in global foreign direct investment (FDI) flows during the past couple of years. Global GDP growth averaged 2.8 per cent in 2002 – ahead of 2001 but below the long-term average of 3.5 per cent. The world economy is forecast to expand by 2.8% in 2003, again below potential. Another sub-par performance for the global economy in 2003 combined with investor uncertainty point to continued weakness in cross-border investment flows. With the global economy expected to return to normal conditions in 2004 and uncertainty receding, FDI flows should pick up accordingly.
