摘要:Canada¡¯s balance of payments (BOP) statistics provide information about this country¡¯s economic transactions1 with
non-residents, allocated between the current account and the capital and financial account.
The current account records transactions covering goods and services, investment income and current transfers.
Transactions in exports and interest income are examples of receipts, while imports and interest expense are
payments. The balance from these transactions determines if Canada¡¯s current account is in surplus or deficit.
When in deficit, the current account balance shows the extent to which Canada is drawing on the resources of the
rest of the world for current consumption and investment; when in surplus, it shows the extent to which Canada is
providing such resources to the rest of the world.
