摘要:These days, it is hard to hear about copyright
law, without also hearing about
technological protection systems. It is no
surprise then, that those responsible for
charting the course of copyright law in
Canada have weighed in on the issue.
The House of Commons Standing
Committee on Canadian Heritage recently
recommended that the Canadian government
ratify the international treaties that
govern technological protection of copyrighted
works: the World Intellectual
Property Organization¡¯s Copyright Treaty
(WCT treaty) and the WIPO
Performances and Phonograms Treaty
(collectively, WIPO treaties). In doing so,
Canada would be following the lead of
the U.S. and the E.U. But this would be
bad news for Canadians.
