摘要:After years of debate, watching, waiting
and behind the scenes research and
development, learning via virtual worlds
appears to be on the brink of becoming
widely available to learning materials
designers and developers. According to
David Wortley, director of the Serious
Games Institute (SGI), based at Coventry
University: ¡°The extraordinary success of
virtual worlds such as ¡®Second Life¡¯ as
virtual social spaces for play is leading us to
examine the potential for the serious uses
of these worlds. We are focusing on virtual
worlds and immersive environments
because these are key elements for serious
games.¡±
