  • 摘要:The word çocuk means piglet in Divanu Lugati’t-Turk. Later on, this word was also meant child in someTurkic languages, an example of meaning improvement.However the word written as cocuk preserved its originalmeaning in Turkmen.In Turkmen, when some words were uttered, it iseasily understood that the word is about children bypeople who speak that language. In other words, whenthese words are used, children come to mind: bala“child”, çağa “child”, doğma “son”, perzent “generation,child” etc.On the other hand, some of aforementioned wordsdescribe the children indirectly. These words are usedfiguratively. All of these words means ‘affectinately loved’child. They frequently used when children are called out:ciğerbent “literally ‘the tissue connecting liver to thebody’, the child who is loved very much”, kösek “literally‘the baby camel’, a nich name used for cute children”,mazı “literally ‘a type of melon’, a nich name used for cutechildren”.It is possible to come accress these type ofexpression variety in other languages as well as Turkiclanguages.
