摘要:In 2000, economic growth came out around 4% for the fourth
successive year. Exports contributed significantly to the strong
growth of recent years. But this year and next year, their contribution
is expected to be lower, because of the world economic
slowdown and the deterioration of Dutch competitiveness.
Private consumption has been expanding at more than
4% per year on average for the last three years, a pace which
is expected to be sustained in 2001-2002, not least thanks to
the tax cuts introduced this year. This will keep economic
growth, at 3.% in 2001 and 2:% in 2002, above the
European average. But because of the lower growth rate, the
projection shows an end to the long-standing fall in unemployment.
Contractual pay rises and inflation will temporarily
come out at high levels this year, around 4%. For next year
these figures are expected to return to around 3% and 2%,
respectively.
