摘要:Lejour, de Mooij and Nahuis (2001) search for the economic
implications of EU enlargement to the East on trade for individual
countries and industries. The approach is useful and attractive, as
it makes the coming event easier to imagine and assess. Among
three shocks they discuss (adoption of the CET, free movement of
labour and accession to the internal market), the high estimated
effects of the latter are particularly worth careful consideration. To
measure economic gains, the authors apply the gravity model
with a dummy that equals one if two of the countries are currently
members of the EU, and zero otherwise.
