摘要:Banks' capital adequacy ratios at the end of September
2006 remained almost unchanged from their levels at
the end of March 2006: a little less than 12 percent at the
major banks and around 10 percent at the regional banks
(Chart 16). These levels were higher than required by
the capital adequacy regulations. At the same time,
although Tier I capital ratios both at the major and the
regional banks increased, they remained at an average
of 6-7 percent at the major banks. Given that many
major foreign banks have Tier I capital ratios of over 8
percent, a number of the major banks in Japan are
aiming at further enhancing their Tier I capital.
