摘要：The concept of State in Jürgen Habermas is here analyzed. The first part deals with the historical and theoretical basis of the Frankfurt School critical thought, of which Habermas is considered one of the lattest representatives. Then, the principal political concepts of Habermas work are examined, mainly in regard to the transition, proposed by the author, of a world of States to a world postnational. At the end, it is questioned whether integration endeavors in South America can be analyzed on the basis of Habermas thoughts, and the role of the media concerning the difficulties faced by MERCOSUR and Andean Community to attain their objectives is examined.
