摘要:The kinetics of oxidation of alanine, glutamic acid, lysine, and phenylalanine by peroxydisulfate ion has been studiedin aqueous sulphuric acid media. The main products of the oxidation are the corresponding carbonyl compounds.The rate show first order dependence on peroxydisulfate concentration, and zero order dependence on amino acidconcentration. An autocatalytic effect has been observed in amino acids oxidation due to formation of Schiff basebetween the formed aldehyde and parent amino acid. The rate of oxidation is susceptible to change in composition ofacetic acid and is maximize at 25% aqueous acetic acid. Reactions were carried out at different temperatures and theactivation parameters have been calculated. The rate of amino acid oxidation is greater in presence of mixture of Ag+and Cu2+ than in presence of either Ag+ or Cu2+. At higher concentrations of the added neutral salt, the logarithm ofthe rate constant is linearly interrelating to the square root of the ionic strength.
